Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends the virtues of family football scholarship with volunteering for the community. One of the first things he did is to help his relatives. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. The family raised nine kids on a Eufala farm. Another reason for his football career was that he is the youngest of three brothers to play for Oklahoma. All three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi award as the best lineman in the country. Over the course of three seasons, Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. The National Football Foundation named him a Scholar-Athlete for the third time in the year 1975. Selmon earned a degree in Education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during college. He settled down in Tampa following college. He playing for the Buccaneers for nine seasons and made three times all-pro. His career in business began. The first position he held was a Account Relations Officer with First Florida Bank, Tampa. In the past, he worked in the past for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that, in 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of ten outstanding young people throughout the United States. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs in the time he played football at college. In 1975, he was the captain of the squad. In 1993, he was appointed the associate director of Athletics at the University of South Florida. Selmon has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. The award ceremony was conducted by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
