Taylor

Taylor Swift is that rarest of pop phenomena one who was able to fully transition from country to the mainstream making her an iconic celebrity and then conquering the globe in the process. Swift left country music like it was an additional layer of herself, proving that she's perhaps the best pop-singer/songwriter in her generation. A person who has the ability to tap into the zeitgeist to make it personal as well as sing in the other direction. Swift's talents are evident in some of the first songs she released, most notably the Neodue Tim McGraw. But on her sophomore album Fearless that came out in 2008, she could identify the person she was and reach an audience that was large. Fearless became an enormous success not just in America where it's Top Ten singles Love Story, and You Belong with Me helped it to record six platinum albums however, it also swept the world. It performed particularly well across Canada, Australia as well as the U.K. Speak Now delivered almost two years later consolidated that popularity and pushed Swift towards the top of stardom. Through her next three albums, Red (2012) 1989 (2004) and Reputation (2017), her popularity increased and she found herself in a world of pop music in which it became clear she was a part of. As she cut her style to the stripped-down versions of 2020, folklore and Evermore, she still remained at the top. The position was defended by re-recordings from her past catalog, as in Midnights the synth-based chart-topper 2022 album.
